All companies that pay high advertizing fees will have many good things written about them. But a consumer has nothing to loose or gain by writing what they find to be the truth about an item. If a light falls apart or takes a long time to assemble and install you are not going to find that written in the manufacturer’s information. The maker of the light is going to say what wonderful craftsmanship a light has, what a gorgeous color it is, and technical things like how much it weighs and the overall dimensions.

For one solar outdoor hanging light reading a customer review changed my mind about purchasing it. In its favor, the light was inexpensive, three light units, made of metal, and appeared to be a good investment. (It was going to be used for a gazebo chandelier.) But out of ten reviews there were only one or two that were good. The others pointed out that the light fixture did not connect properly from the battery unit to the s0lar panel. One homeowner said the globes only shed a little light. And a third review said the company would not give her a refund when the fixture arrived broken.

If depending on reviews for selecting a chandelier, for example, be sure that there are several to read. If there is only one review, it may be very biased. If two or more people claim the same defect or issue with a light, then I would assume that is it true. Typically an outdoor chandelier that is under $100 is not of the same craftsmanship that is found in one costing $200. So price does play a role. Because most light fixtures utilize electricity instead of candles, it is wise to select a new one instead of a used model. Wiring can become damaged with use, so purchasing a new one helps insure against danger from shorts or frayed wires.
